Shower Base

Being that we at Memphis Bathroom Remodel have been in the bathroom renovation business for 10+ years as reputable contractors working with various different homeowners, we now understand that we have to explain to people what a shower base truly is.

This is because whenever we are doing a bath remodeling project and start conversing about shower pans and shower bases, our clients always seem to think that the two are the same thing! We’re so used to it now that we’ve all just collectively decided to tell all of our readers in this description here on the website, for everyone’s convenience.

A shower base is what is underneath a shower pan. It is made of concrete, and is covered up by a shower pan. It’s unseen to the eye, but is probably the most important part of installing your shower. It’s a substructure, and, of course, it’s waterproof.

During its installation, the shower base is purposefully tilted slightly so that water can flow to the drain easily. Our bathroom contractors here at Memphis Bathroom Remodel are by nature very detail oriented, and are always sure that this very mandatory installment process is implemented.

Shower Pans

Although when you type in “shower pans” in a search engine you see both shower bases and pans pop up, again, they are not the same thing. Your shower pan covers your shower base, and is what is seen by the physical eye.

When our bathroom contractors do a shower remodel, this is one of the most requested items customers want to receive advice about, especially when homeowners are trying to decide what type of material they want it to be made out of. There are many options, and you don’t have to sacrifice style to make your bathroom shower pan just as attractive as the rest of the layout in that space.

Some people are used to having fiberglass shower pans,  and they want to stick to those kinds when we come out to do their small or large shower remodel. But, you have a lot of people who are tired of the same old look, and simply want to jazz things up within their bathroom, which we really enjoy helping them do!

Some of the most popular ones that people choose are made of metal, but some other homeowners go with stone. There are of course the different styles and colors of ceramic, as well as acrylic shower bases. So, you and your family should take time to decide which one’s going to suit your needs in the coming years.

Shower Tile

Probably one of the most important things to people when they’re planning their bathroom remodeling project is its total shower remodel cost in Memphis. Many times, this has to do with the type of tile that they choose. It really just depends on your taste, but you have to remember that the tile in the shower has to coordinate with the rest of the bathroom and it’s overall tone. Consider the colors of the walls, the ceilings, and the floor tiles as well as the vanities when choosing what type of tile you want for your shower.

Some of the more popular ones for shower walls have been ones that give off a nice reflection, such as marble tile, porcelain tile, or even glass tile. But, when it comes to the floor tiles in your shower, you don’t want to end up losing your footing. So, certain ones like mosaic tile or rock tile would likely be more suitable.

GLASS DOOR

Shower Doors & Glass

Our trained professional bathroom remodel contractors at Memphis Bathroom Remodel are great with constructing wonderfully beautiful shower remodel projects. It’s one of the most requested bathroom renovations. And, by the time homeowners get a new shower, most of the time they want to do the entire bathroom space as well!

When choosing whether or not you want a glass or regular shower door, it would simply depend on your lifestyle as well as your taste and preference. Our job is to simply make sure that it is safely installed for years of continuous use.

When it comes down to shower doors, some people like the hinged ones that move just like regular doors in your house do. Some people prefer a shower door that pivots and rotates, but these types of doors are set up more for larger showers. If your bathroom is small then an alcove shower door would probably suit you very well, being that they don’t take up so much space.

There are so many different types of styles to choose from when it comes to shower doors (over 20). And, if you should need a little help trying to decide which would be the best for your bathroom renovation project, we’ll be happy to assist you with some suggestions to make sure your shower remodel is one that you’re ultimately happy with.

Shower Seating & Benches

When doing your shower remodel, there are many benefits to having shower seating. This actually depends on your lifestyle, and many times it has to do with your health and age.

For example, if you’re an older person, then having a seat or a bench installed in your shower will be an added safety tool. Aside from that, whether you’re an older or younger homeowner, having a seat or bench in the shower will give you a place to, say, heighten your leg in order to shave it more efficiently, and allow you more freedom in the shower.

These seats and benches for your shower are of course water-resistant, and are many times used for not just sitting but also to put things down while you shower, such as shampoo, brushes, razors etc. Although storage, function and safety are the main reasons that this type of seating is beneficial, the different styles of them are so attractive that most homeowners just can’t resist! There are wall-mounted seats and benches, those that are freestanding, and so many different styles such as corner seats.

Shower Support Rails

You may be an older homeowner, someone who may have been in an accident and has trouble with balance, or maybe someone who’s just always aware that anyone could always possibly slip and fall in the shower. Either one of these types of people have wonderful reasons to have a shower support rail installed when doing a shower remodel project.

Shower support rails are a request that our bathroom contractors get from people of all ages. And, installing them is as simple as finding the right place to position the rail in your shower, then trying to decide which one coordinates best with your bathroom design.

Shower rails are many times made of stainless steel, but there are different variations of them depending on the type of shower you have. If you need any suggestions, our very hospitable shower remodel contractors will be more than willing to give you some.

Shower Appliances

Your choice of shower appliances when doing your shower remodel are just as important as the larger items like as shower bases. It’s best to keep your entire plan of layout in mind when choosing certain types of vanities, as well as the faucets and shower nozzles that you choose.

There may be certain types of lighting that you have in mind, plus your toilet will also have to coordinate with everything in the space. These are the small details that you and your family should keep in mind, and we at Memphis Bathroom Remodel are always ready to give you suggestions if you’re unsure what your choices should be for these types of shower and bathroom appliances.

Shower Remodel Cost

The cost of your shower remodel will ultimately depend on the types of tile that you choose, your shower door, the types of faucets and nozzles that you want, what style of shower base you like, and simply the entire overall design. You’d be surprised that you could have a very elegant looking shower without breaking the bank in most cases.

That being said, it’s always important to take a little time to examine your lifestyle, your finances, and what you ultimately mostly want out of the new shower. This way, once your shower remodel is completed, you’ll be both financially and emotionally pleased!
